STRESS FACT #1: Stress is not caused by Life's events; rather, it is our response to those events which causes our stress. Anytime you or I perceive a threat to our well-being or continued existence, the body's "fight or flight" response is triggered. The peril may be internal (a worry, a fear) or external (I lose my job). Without any forethought or warning our bodies automatically activate hormones to prepare us to either flee the situation or get ready to fight for survival. Here's the point--to effectively manage stress, we must be able to program our body to respond differently to Life's events.

WE TRAIN YOU TO DO THIS!

STRESS FACT #2: The body does not make a distinction between an internal or external threat. Whether we face a clear and imminent danger (a bear on the hiking trail) or are stressed out about our work load, the loss of a loved one, the high cost of gasolin, our body's response will be the same. Taking a cue from how we perceive the situation--whether it is real or we have imagined it--our body's stress mechanism assumes the information is correct and mobilizes to deal with the perceived risk. When working well, this mechanism protects us from harm--it helps us stay alert, energetic and focused. But when this mechanism is continually called upon to react as if everything is a "fight or flight" moment, we experience a shift in our abilities to perform our best, to relate well with others, to maintain a positive hopeful attitude. Too much stress can become a liability for our continued well-being.

WE SHOW YOU HOW TO KEEP YOUR STRESS MECHANISM

IN BALANCE TO MAINTAIN YOUR NORMAL STATE OF WELLNESS

STRESS FACT #3: We engage our "fight or flight" response system far too often. Living in a high tech age has changed the pace of life to an ever increasing velocity. With labour saving devices all around us, more results in less time is an expectation many of us carry. To keep up we take two, three, four things at once and call it multitasking. We ramp ourselves up to meet all of the challenges and concerns we carry about our family, friends and co-workers, our continued employment, our monthly bills, any health issues we or others close to us may have, etc. With so much to accomplish, we continue to call upon the figtht or flight energy for longer periods of time, kicking up our stress mode to ever higher and higher echelons. Eventually we collapse form exhausted, feeling overwhelmed we lose our perspective and our ability to cope--becoming a shell of our former selves. Perhaps you have noticed some of these symptoms creeping into your Life----------------->
